Ashley Massaro quits WWE

Everyone’s favorite female wrestler/prostitute is back in the news. Former Playboy cover girl and Survivor contestant Ashley Massaro updated her MySpace blog saying that she has officially asked WWE for a release from her contract. She cites her sick daughter as the reason for leaving the company, and if it’s true I wish her a speedy recovery.

I am skeptical of her story, given how she claimed the Rolling Stone article about her escorting was false but no lawsuit ever formulated; but situations like this have happened before and with much more money on the line. Remember when Derek Fisher walked away from his $21-million contract with the Utah Jazz to take care of his daughter? Luckily his daughter recovered and he signed a $14-million contract with the Lakers.

Massaro’s story could very well be true, and if so then god bless, but the timing seems a little too suspicious.
